Both drivers escaped injuries when a SUV collided with a semi-truck in Renville County Friday afternoon.

On Oct. 15, at 3:27 p.m., the Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a collision about four miles south of Renville.

Investigation suggested a westbound 1999 International semi driven by Ramiro De La Garza Guzman, age 65, of Renville had stopped at the stop sign of County Roads 17 and 6. Guzman entered the intersection with his fully loaded grain trailer, and failed to yield to a southbound 2009 Silver Ford Edge driven by Andi Schoep, age 22, of Clara City.

Both drivers were able to exit their vehicles on their own, and no injuries were reported. This crash remains under investigation. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash and both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.

Assisting on the scene were the Renville Police Department, Olivia Ambulance Service, Renville Fire and Rescue, and the Minnesota State Patrol
