The city of Redwood Falls is sending out a reminder to dog owners within city limits: the city’s new conditional lifetime dog licences are now available at Redwood Falls City Hall.

According to a new ordinance passed several months ago, if you own or keep a dog three months old or older within city limits, you must get a conditional lifetime license by Jan. 2 of next year. It’s called a “conditional” licence because it can be renewed for the rest of the dog’s lifetime by providing evidence that rabies shots are current.

After Jan. 2, all licensed dogs must wear a collar with a current conditional lifetime licence attached. If a license is not purchased by 4:30 p.m. on January 2, 2020, a District Court Citation will be issued for your unlicensed dog. Any dog found in the City of Redwood Falls without a license tag, or running at large, will be placed at the Friends of the Animal Shelter.

The fee for the conditional lifetime dog license for a dog of any age is $50. The license is called a “conditional” license because it can be renewed for the rest of the dog’s lifetime by providing evidence that rabies shots are current.
