New Fairfax business opens with aid from SWIF microenterprise loan

A new business in the area, River Valley Low Voltage, has opened in Franklin with help from a microenterprise loan from the Southwest Initiative Foundation. Currently, owner Harley Pfarr operates the business from his home in Fairfax, and the loan helped him purchase inventory.

A new business in the area, River Valley Low Voltage, has opened in Franklin with help from a microenterprise loan from the Southwest Initiative Foundation.

Owner Harley Pfarr has been in the telecommunications industry more than nine years, most recently as a lead low voltage technician . He’s acquired certifications installing fiber optic, Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) and Avaya IP Office, among others.

River Valley Low Voltage specializes in the sale, installation and maintenance of low voltage and communications services to residential, commercial, farm, and government. This includes fiber optic cabling and splicing for data transmission, surveillance systems and Wi-Fi and data networking services for reliable and fast connectivity.

Currently, Pfarr operates the business from his home in Fairfax. Loan funds from SWIF provided working capital and helped him purchase inventory.

Loan programs have been part of SWIF since its beginning to support communities and businesses throughout southwest Minnesota. Since its founding in 1986, SWIF has distributed more than $107 million through its grantmaking and business finance programs.
