Those Red Flag Warnings the National Weather Service issues when warm, dry weather makes fires more likely aren’t jokes.

In Sibley County, firefighters from multiple communities had their hands full dealing with two brush fires in reported within minutes of each other on Friday.

The first was when an unattended fire escaped some private property near Henderson and ended up burning acres of a protected wildlife area. Fire departments from Henderson, Belle Plaine, and Jordan were on scene, with assistance from several other area departments.

Less than 15 minutes after the first blaze was reported, a second was called in near Gaylord. The fire is believed to have been caused by a nearby brush fire that was left unattended. Green Isle, Arlington, and Hamburg fire departments stayed on the scene for several hours until the blaze was under control.
