A Morton man with a history of controlled substance convictions, Jalen John Goodthunder, age 29, has been sentenced in Redwood County Court, related to an incident last summer.

According to court documents, on June 22 of last year, the Brown Lyon Redwood Renville Drug Task Force conducted a search warrant at a rural Morton residence. The Lower Sioux Tribal Police Department, Redwood County Sheriff’s Office, and Redwood Falls Police Department assisted in the search.

After law enforcement knocked and received no response, they forcefully entered the residence. Jalen John Goodthunder and two others were searched and arrested. Investigators located various types of illegal substances and paraphernalia in the residence, including methamphetamine. Goodthunder had multiple prior controlled substance convictions.

On Dec. 19, Goodthunder was sentenced to 15 months in the correctional facility in St. Cloud, stayed for three years, three years supervised probation, 60 days local confinement, and fines and fees of $210.
