A Morgan man was convicted in Redwood County District Court last week for a felony count of not registering as a predatory offender. Curtis Dale Williams, age 42, was sentenced to the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud for 24 months, with credit for time-served of 28 days.

According to court documents, on Oct. 5, 2019, Renville County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a residence in Morton for a welfare check. There they encountered Williams, and saw a car registered to him. While checking the license plate, deputies learned Williams was required to register as a predatory offender.

Two days later, deputies learned that Williams’ required registration was for an address in the city of Morgan. After that, deputies noticed Williams’ vehicle often parked at the Morton address. The vehicle was observed there so often that deputies began keeping a log. From Nov. 15 through Dec. 2 of 2019, Williams’ car was seen at that residence 13 times ranging from 4 p.m. through 3:20 a.m.

On Dec. 3, 2019, using a search warrant, deputies found Williams at that residence along with many personal items, and an envelope addressed to Williams at the Morton address. Williams was arrested for failing to register as a predatory offender, and had a previous 2019 conviction for Failure to Register.
