Moose spotted in and around Spicer this week

There have been several sightings of a moose in the Spicer area north of Willmar this past week.

According to JP Cola, KWLM, one witness spotted the moose at about 9 a.m. near Lakeview Drive, behind the Dairy Queen. Shortly afterward it was spotted near DNR headquarters on County Road 8.

Area Wildlife Manager Corey Netland with the DNR says moose in this area are rare but not unheard of. Netland says as long as you give it space, the moose should be harmless. Netland says it appears to be a young male yearling, probably born last year. And just a reminder — there is no moose hunting season in Minnesota.
