Several people were injured Friday morning in a crash on icy Chippewa County roads.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, on Jan. 27, Henri Ariel Lopez Palazios, age 28, of Montevideo, was driving a Chevrolet pickup westbound on Highway 23. At the same time, Meryl Marlene Kuechle, age 20, of Eden Valley, was eastbound on the same road.

When Palazios attempted to pass another vehicle, his pickup lost control and spun around in the westbound lane, and collided with Kuchle’s vehicle.

Palazios and Kuechle were both taken to the emergency room at the Willmar hospital, while Palizios’ passenger, Marlon Jose Hoyes Luno, age 19, was transported to the hospital in St. Cloud with life-threatening injuries.

Assisting on the scene were the Raymond EMS, Clara City Fire Department and EMS, and Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office and ambulance.
