The Minnesota Twins have canceled their annual Winter Caravan for a second year because of COVID concerns. The Winter Caravan was set for January 30 through February 4 in Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Iowa.

The team informed host communities Monday that the tour featuring Twins players and coaches won’t be coming. The Twins Winter Caravan had been held in each of the last 60 seasons.

A statement from the Twins said, “with the Omicron variant continuing to drive case numbers up and posing a high risk, we feel this is the correct course of action to protect the health, safety, and well-being of our fans, staff, employees, partners, and communities.”

The Twins are scheduled to open the 2022 season, pending labor disputes, on March 31st in Chicago against the White Sox.
