A Minneapolis woman, Katrina Fay Wise, age 22, was sentenced in Redwood County Court for drug offenses discovered during a traffic stop when she was in a stolen vehicle.

According to court documents, on Dec. 28, 2021, the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a theft of gas at a Walnut Grove gas station by a person driving a U-Haul pickup truck. A deputy noted the vehicle on Highway 14, near Knox Ave., and pulled it over.

The deputy noted the scent of marijuana when the drivers side window was rolled down, and two children not wearing proper child restraints. The driver, Katrina Wise, had a canceled drivers license, and the U-Haul was reported stolen from the town of Crystal. After wise and the children were placed into a squad car, a search of the U-Haul’s cab turned up several containers of marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms, and drug paraphernalia.

At the Redwood County jail, Wise stated she had no illegal contraband on her person, but a search turned up a THC vape pen and cartridge.

On Jan. 6 of this year, Katrina Wise was sentenced for felony controlled substance crime and possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle to a total of 45 days local confinement, five years supervised probation, and fines and fees of $300.
