The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a man found dead Tuesday in the Minnesota River. According to the medical examiner, David Drown, 65, died by suicide due to hanging. The medical examiner identified Drown using his driver’s license photo and his fingerprints. 

Officers responded to the scene near Highways 212 and 23 at approximately 11:50 a.m. Tuesday following a 911 call from a man walking along a nearby path who spotted a body in the water. 

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. The Granite Falls Police Department is being assisted by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office.
