Man charged with DWI after overturning semi-truck in Renville County Sunday morning

A man suspected of driving while impaired overturned a semi-truck in Renville County Sunday morning about five miles northeast of Franklin.

According to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, a 2009 International semi  pulling a trailer, driven by Christopher Toren, age 49, of Fairfax, was  travelling east on 700th Avenue. A little after 4 a.m. the vehicle and trailer entered the ditch  on the south side of the road, causing both units to tip on their side. 

Toren sustained no injuries as a result of the crash. He was taken into custody and booked into the Renville County Jail on  probable cause 1st degree driving while impaired and for violation of driver’s  license restrictions. Toren is expected to be formally charged by the Renville  County Attorney’s office.  

The Renville County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Minnesota  State Patrol.  The crash remains under investigation.
