A missing man with Alzheimer’s was injured after falling down an embankment in Kandiyohi County Sunday evening.
On July 24, at about 7:30 p.m., the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing 87 year old man who suffers from Alzheimer’s. The man was suspected to be in the area of the 6000 block of Long Lake Rd in Dovre Township. The man had been missing since the morning hours, and his family was requesting assistance in locating him.
Deputies began searching around the residence and surrounding area. A short time later, the man was located at the bottom of a steep embankment near the shoreline of Point Lake behind his residence. He was later transported to CentraCare – Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar with non-life threatening injuries.
Assisting the Sheriff’s Office was CentraCare Ambulance, Spicer Fire department, Spicer First Responders, Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad, Willmar Police Department and Kandiyohi County Emergency Management.
