When Dan Kates wanted to create a peaceful protest against a recent incident of police brutality in the Twin Cities, one of the first people he contacted was Redwood Falls Police Chief Jason Cotner.

Perhaps to the surprise of some, the Redwood Falls Police Department was not only fine with letting the march go on, but some police officers and other law enforcement officials participated, walking alongside a diverse crowd of area residents outraged by the murder of George Floyd.

KLGR spoke with Chief Cotner earlier this week about his department’s cooperation with the march, and the issues the march raised:
