Kerkhovan motorcyclist injured in Kandiyohi County collision Wednesday

A Kerkhoven motorcyclist was injured Wednesday evening in a Kandiyohi County collision.

At about a little after 8 p.m. on June 23, Robert Anthony Kappes, age 56, was riding his 1988 Harley Davidson west on County Road 40. At the intersection with County Road 5, a Pontiac Torrent driven by Brittany Lee Kolkhorst, age 27, of Blaine, stopped at the stop sign and proceeded into the intersection.

Kappes saw the Kolkhorst’s vehicle and tried to maneuver his cycle around it, but struck the rear passenger side. Kappes was transported to the St. Cloud hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Assisting the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office were Centra Care Ambulance, Life Link Air Ambulance, New London Ambulance, New London Fire and Lakes Area First Responders.
