Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office releases names of people in Monday’s fatal accident

On Tuesday morning the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office identified those involved in Monday’s fatal accident.

Vernon Read, age 79, of Atwater was declared dead at the scene after the collision at the intersections of County Roads 9 and 10 near Lake Henderson.

The driver of the other vehicle was Amber Torkelson, age 28, of Spicer, who was transported to CentraCare Hospital in Willmar with serious injuries. Her passenger, Eric Hanson, age 41, of Spicer, was ejected from the vehicle during the collision. He was airlifted to CentraCare Hospital in St. Cloud with life-threatening injuries. A four year old child was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office.
