The Kandiyohi County Board Tuesday approved extending Kandiyohi County’s local option sales for another 6 years. The county board approved the half-cent tax in 2017 and it is scheduled to end next year.

On the advice of Kandiyohi County Public Works Director Mel Odens, voted to extend its end date to 2028. Commissioner Corky Berg says the local option sales tax has done a good job since it’s inception, raising $14 million to build or repair 10 miles of roads and replaced a bridge.

The county board Tuesday voted 5-0 to extend the tax to 2028, and it will raise an additional 22 million dollars and will fund 11 projects, consisting of 40 miles of roads and 2 bridges.
