A Granite Falls woman, Julia Jean Rose Kocher, age 19, has been sentenced in Redwood County Court for selling marijuana to a juvenile who stole it from her.

According to court documents, on July 25 of last year, law enforcement was called to a home on the 500 block of E. Wyoming Street in Redwood Falls about a reported disturbance. Officers and deputies learned several individuals involved in a theft had just fled the area.

While law enforcement visited several residences where the suspects had reportedly fled to, a juvenile admitted he and several friends had been to the Wyoming Street residence to buy marijuana from a man and a woman in a pickup. Upon arrival, the juvenile decided to steal the marijuana instead of buying it.  He grabbed the bag, which contained 13.3 ounces of marijuana, and fled, hiding the bag under a bush at the corner of E. Meadow Land and Drew Street, where law enforcement found it.

When law enforcement apprehended Kocher, she admitted the juvenile had stolen the marijuana from her, but that it actually belonged to her male companion.

On April 17, Julia Jean Rose Kocher was sentenced to 90 days local confinement, three years supervised probation, and fines and fees of $275.
