Flood Relief Funds Opened at Southwest Initiative Foundation
To address needs resulting from severe flooding in southwest Minnesota, Southwest Initiative Foundation (SWIF) has established the Windom Flood Relief Fund in partnership with its community affiliate, the Windom Area Foundation, and the Southwest Minnesota Flood Relief Fund. These emergency funds will help those affected by the high water with financial assistance related to long-term recovery in Windom and the surrounding area and the foundation’s southwest Minnesota region.
Individuals who want to contribute to the Windom Flood Relief Fund can give online at bit.ly/windomfloodrelief, by mailing a check payable to “Windom Flood Relief Fund” to the Windom Area Foundation, PO Box 351, Windom, MN 56101 or by dropping off a check at Bank Midwest, 245 9th St, Windom, MN 56101. Donations to the fund are tax deductible.
Donations to the Southwest Minnesota Flood Relief Fund can be made in several ways — online at swifoundation.org/donate; by mailing a check payable to “Southwest Minnesota Flood Relief Fund” to 15 Third Ave NW, Hutchinson, MN 55350; or by calling SWIF Vice President of Community Impact Nancy Fasching at (320) 484-9104. Donations to the fund are tax deductible.
Following heavy rainfall across Minnesota, Gov. Tim Walz declared a state of emergency on June 22, with water reaching “uncontrollable levels” and creating severe damage to property in several areas.
“Times like these are a reminder of how fragile we are, but how powerful coming together can be to help a neighbor or be on the receiving end of support,” said Fasching, who oversees the foundation’s grant programs.
Donations to the Windom Flood Relief Fund and the Southwest Minnesota Flood Relief Fund will be made available to those affected by this natural disaster through an application process. For more information, contact Fasching at (320) 484-9104 or [email protected].
