Two Congresspeople representing KLGR-land both made it clear they didn’t vote to remove Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy earlier this week.
Congressman Brad Finstad, who represents southern Minnesota’s first district, says he opposed the measure to remove McCarthy, which left the position vacant. Finstad said the “theatrics” were a distraction from the serious work Congress has to do.
Rep. Michelle Fischbach, who represents the seventh district, said McCarthy forced President Biden to agree to the largest federal spending cuts in a decade, ended the Omnibus Bill process, and opened an impeachment inquiry against President Biden. She said she is disappointed all that work is going to be halted until another Speaker is elected.
