Fatal Accident In Yellow Medicine County

On September 5th, at approximately 4:06pm, the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle crash with injuries at the intersection of County Road 8 & 250^th Avenue.

A 1997 Ford F150 was being driven westbound on 250^th Avenue by Robert Proctor (60) of Cottonwood. The F150 failed to yield at the intersection and collided with a 2010 Peterbilt Semi pulling a loaded gravel trailer.  The semi was being driven by Mark Oftedahl (57) of Hanley Falls.  Both vehicles ended up in the ditch southwest of the intersection. The driver of the F150, Robert Proctor was pronounced deceased at the scene.  He was transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner for an autopsy. The driver of the semi, Mark Oftedahl was taken to the Avera Granite Falls Hospital by private party and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Clarkfield Fire and Ambulance, Granite Falls Ambulance, MN State Patrol and Lynner Funeral Home.
