Erin Jacobson is set to become the Redwood Area School District’s next Director of Teaching and Learning.

The Redwood Area School Board plans to approve Jacobson’s employment at a special June 8 meeting. She will officially begin her duties after July 1. Jacobson replaces current Director of Teaching & Learning Darcy Josephson. who has resigned effective June 30 to accept the Assistant Superintendent of the Alexandria School District.

Jacobson has been employed in the Gibbon-Winthrop-Fairfax (GFW) School District since 2005. She has served as an elementary school teacher, and most recently as a teacher leader focused on instructional coaching and new teacher mentorship.

From 1997-2006, Jacobson was a member of the South Dakota and Minnesota Army National Guards. During those years was recognized for excellence as a soldier, and was commissioned as an Officer in the Adjutant General Army Corps in 2003. She resigned her commission as an Officer in February of 2006.

Jacobson earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Minnesota State University-Mankato in 2003, graduating Cum Laude.  She earned a Master of Science Degree in Teaching and Learning with an emphasis in Data & Assessment and Technology in 2015 from Minnesota Statue University-Mankato.  She also has plans to continue working to gain licensure as a principal and/or superintendent in the future.

Jacobson and her husband Ryan, have two children, Marti and Cole.  Ryan is a social studies teacher in the GFW School District. Ryan is a social studies teacher in the GFW School District.
