The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources reminds anglers about the upcoming deadline to remove ice fishing shelters, and urges them to not wait until the last minute. In the southern two-thirds of the state, structures must be off lakes by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, March 6. For structures on lakes in the northern third of the state, the deadline is 11:59 p.m. on March 20.

If shelters are not removed by the deadline, owners may be cited, and structures may be confiscated, removed, or destroyed by a conservation officer.

After the removal date, shelters can remain on the ice between midnight and one hour before sunrise only when occupied or attended. Storing or leaving shelters on a public access is prohibited.
