Deputies pursued a pair of juveniles in a high speed chase across Yellow Medicine County on Tuesday.

At about 8:20 p.m., the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a possible fight in Hazel Run township.

While deputies were responding to the scene, the 911 caller told the dispatcher the two people involved in the fight got into a grey Toyota 4-Runner and left heading west out of Hazel Run.

Deputies located the vehicle a short time later and attempted to stop the vehicle. Instead, it took off at a high rate of speed. Deputies followed in a chase lasting about 23 minutes, and ending in Granite Falls.

The driver of the vehicle, a juvenile, fled on foot and was found a short time later.  The driver was taken to Prairie Lakes Youth Programs in Willmar.  The passenger was detained and interviewed and later released.  No injuries were reported from the pursuit.

No other information is available at this point as the investigation relating to the original reason for the call is ongoing.

Agencies assisting were the Granite Falls Police, MN State Patrol, Chippewa County Sheriff, Montevideo Police, Lac Qui Parle County Sheriff, Renville County Sheriff and the Upper Sioux Community Police Department.
