Several KLGR-area counties are among 14 in Minnesota the Centers for Disease Control recommended Tuesday go back to masking against COVID infection.

The CDC said that all people, including those who have been vaccinated, should wear masks indoors if they live in areas with high coronavirus rates. KLGR-area counties classified by the CDC as having either “high” or “substantial” transmission rates, include:

Redwood County, rated at high risk with 45.4 percent of the population partially vaccinated, and Cottonwood County, rated at substantial risk with 48.2 percent of its population partially vaccinated.

The CDC recommended counties mandate indoor masks under the new federal guidance, however, it’s up to the state and local government to decide whether to adopt any new policies.
