State health officials say there’s a desperate need for blood because many blood drives have been canceled due to COVID-19.

The Minnesota Health Department’s Kris Ehresmann stated, “There’s not a danger in donating blood and the blood banks have taken steps to ensure that it’s possible to donate blood and maintain social distancing.”

Ehresmann says blood centers are evaluating staff and potential donors to be sure they’re healthy. If you don’t have symptoms, please contact your local blood center to donate.
