By now there have been several grant and loan programs across Redwood County to help businesses hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now the federal and state governments has stepped in, and granted Redwood County $1.9 million in CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Funds.

As a result, the county has created a small business relief grant program to help businesses surivive and retain jobs throughout the county. Eligible businesses may request up to $10,000, with the actual grant award based on the business’s economic injury, financial need, and availability of grants funds.

Briana Mumme, of the Redwood County EDA, said the county commissioners haven’t set aside a specific amount for the grant program:

According to Mumme, there are a variety of eligible ways the grant funds can be used:

The Redwood County Economic Development Authority began accepting applications from for-profit and non-profit businesses on Tuesday, Sept. 1, and will continue accepting them through 4 pm on Friday, September 11.
