The Redwood County Fair has been canceled for this summer.

In a statement Thursday afternoon, the Redwood County Fair board said, “The Redwood County Fair Board has been working hard trying to figure out this 2020 season…. We have hit stumbling blocks since March. With restrictions in place and not knowing what the future will bring we have had to think long and hard about our decision.

“It is with heavy hearts that we must make the decision to cancel the Redwood County Fair for 2020. The Redwood County Fair dates for 2021 will be announced at a later date….

The fair board is currently working with area 4-H chapters to help in any way with projects that were intended for this year’s fair. The fair board also expects to be out this summer working on improvements and upkeep for the fairground, buildings, and grandstand.

The fair has only been canceled twice in its history — once for the 1918 flu pandemic, and once for World War II and a polio outbreak.
