The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Minnesota is increasing, as would be expected as testing dramatically increases. On Sunday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported 871 positive cases out of more than 16,000 tests done throughout the state in one one day.

However, it’s important to note the percentage of positive cases identified on a given day in Minnesota continues its trend of going down.

And the number of total hospitalizations went down on Sunday by 14, to 273. One-hundred-15 coronavirus patients are currently in Minnesota intensive care units, a 56 percent drop from peak ICU cases in May.

Also on Sunday, the Department of Health reported three more deaths they say are related to the virus. However, that is the 24th day in a row the Department of Health has attributed 10 or fewer deaths.

Locally, as of Sunday, Renville County has identified 53 positive cases of COVID-19, with four deaths attributed in part to the virus. Meeker County reports 81 cases with two deaths, Kandiyohi County 647 cases with one death, Brown County 72 cases with two deaths.

KLGR-area counties reporting no deaths include Redwood County, which now reports 30 positive cases of COVID-19, Yellow Medicine County reports 42 cases, Watonwan County reports 292 cases, McLeod County 116 cases, and La Qui Parle County six cases with no deaths.
