Although you get repeated updates in the media every day now on how many confirmed COVID-19 cases have been discovered in the state, it can be easy to overlook a very important point. According to Monday’s report from the Minnesota Department of Health, the daily number of deaths from COVID-19 is on the decline in Minnesota.

As of Monday, there have been 591 COVID-19-related deaths in the state so far. The highest number of deaths was on May 7, with numbers on the whole lessening from then.

Also as of Monday, the total number of confirmed cases in Minnesota was bringing the total to 11,799, with 452 people hospitalized, 194 in the intensive care unit.

Blue Earth: 67, an increase of 12 from last week
Brown: 9 cases (one death)
Chippewa County: 14, an increase of nine from last week
Cottonwood: 47, an increase of four from last week
Kandiyohi: 316, an increase of 55 from last week, but still only one death
Lac Qui Parle: 2
Lyon: 18, an increase of nine from last week
McLeod: 13, an increase of five from last week
Meeker: 21
Murray: 29, an increase of three from last week
Redwood: 3
Renville: 6
Watonwan: 25, an increase of six from last week
Yellow Medicine: 3
