There’s been a large spike in reported COVID-19 positive cases in Redwood and Renville Counties in the past few days, with Redwood County reporting its first COVID-related death.

According to the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), as of Tuesday morning the official total of COVID-19 positive cases in Redwood County had jumped to 144, with one death. No information has been given out by the Department of Health or any other official source about what might explain the sudden jump in cases, or about the person who has died.

According to the MDH, as of Tuesday morning the only nursing home or assisted living facility in Redwood County that has reported any COVID-19 cases is still Valley View Manor, in Lamberton.

There has also been a jump in cases in Renville County, with the official numbers on Tuesday morning being 136 positives with one new death, bringing that county’s total to seven. The Renville County victim was a patient in his or her 90s.

According to the MDH, as of Tuesday morning the only nursing home or assisted living facility in Redwood County that has reported any COVID-19 cases is still Valley View Manor, in Lamberton.
