A Clements man, Mitchell Aaron Davis, age 23, was sentenced in Redwood County Court for stealing several vehicles last summer.
According to court documents, on Aug. 4 of last year, the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office learned a Ford pickup bearing a South Dakota license plate that had been reported stolen had been spotted near a rural Clements residence. The pickup was released to its owner.
On the same day, the Sheriff’s Office learned of a motorcycle theft at a different residence at rural Clements. The victim stated a shed had been broken into, and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle had been stolen.
Investigation showed the motorcycle had been located in South Dakota, near where the Ford pickup had been stolen.
On Oct. 8 of last year, a Sheriff’s Office investigator interviewed Davis, who acknowledged committing the thefts. He admitted stealing the motorcycle while under the influence of methamphetamine, trying to ride to South Dakota, and stealing the pickup after running out of gas.
On Oct. 16 of this year, Davis was sentenced for felony theft to 13 months in the correctional facility in St. Cloud, stayed for three years, three years supervised probation, and fines, fees, and restitution of $1,188.64.
