The popular sledding hill on the site of the old Redwood Falls swimming pool will be better than ever next winter with all the new dirt being added now.

Residents of Redwood Falls have probably notice that the ongoing Drew Street reconstruction project involves moving hundreds of tons of dirt around as old infrastructure is replaced with new. Residents may have also noticed the site of the old swimming pool, across the street from the old Redwood Falls hospital, has been getting tons of additional dirt over the past week.

Yes, there is a connection.

According to Redwood Falls City Administrator Keith Muetzel, the city is moving excess dirt from the Drew Street project to permanently enhance the hill, a popular spot for sledding in the winter. Muetzel stated Thursday, “Because that location is close to the project, we are also able to minimize the cost of hauling the material elsewhere for disposal. Once the dirt work is complete, the site will be restored with grass.”
