A Belview man, Jamison Aaron Sander, age 37, was sentenced last week for separate felony-level firearms and drug offenses.

In the first, On July 25, 2022, the Redwood Falls Police Department responded to a report of disturbance on the 500 block of E. Wyoming Street involving a theft of marijuana, from a vehicle that turned out to be owned and driven by Sanders.

A juvenile witness admitted he and several friends had arranged to purchase the drug. The juvenile admitted that while the sale was taking place, he grabbed the large bag containing slightly more than 13 ounces of marijuana from the female passenger and fled. The bag of pot was found in some nearby bushes, and Sander and the female passenger were located shortly afterward in a local restaurant.

In the second charge, on May 26, 2023, the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office searched Sander’s residence in Belview regarding a firearm reported stolen from Franklin. Deputies found a shotgun in a firearm case in Sanders’ bedroom. Sander was convicted of domestic assault in 2006, making him ineligible to posess a firearm.

Deputies also found various drug paraphernalia, including meth pipes, and the meth to go with it. Under questioning at the Redwood County Jail, Sander told deputies he planed to sell the firearm in an attempt to raise bail money for a friend in custody.

On July 24, Sander was convicted of felony-level charges of receiving stolen property, and 3rd degree sales of drugs to a person under 18 to a total of 18 months in the correctional facility in St. Cloud, stayed for five years, 166 days local confinement, five years supervised probation, and fines and fees of $620.
