BCA still investigating Olivia police shooting incident

Ricky Torres

It’s been almost three months since Olivia Police Officer Aaron Clouse shot and killed 32-year-old Ricky Torres behind Dirks Furniture in Olivia, and the investigation into the shooting is still taking place. Clouse claimed Torres approached him with a gun during the early morning hours of July 4th, and a shotgun was found near Torres body after he was shot.

There is no video of the incident. Torres’ relatives dispute Clouse’s account of what happened, and at a candle light vigil July 7th, said he didn’t deserve to die.

Clouse was placed on administrative leave after the shooting and the investigation was turned over to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

This week the BCA issued a statement, saying “The BCA investigation is ongoing. Once the investigation is complete, the BCA will present its findings without recommendation to the Blue Earth County Attorney’s Office for review.”
