Area law enforcement warns of catalytic converter thefts

Three people are in custody after reports of catalytic converter thefts in New Ulm, with the police department there saying three people had been arrested with help from the Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office.

In recent days, the Redwood Falls Police Department has warned of catalytic converter thefts and tampering in the area. Mankato, North Mankato, and Waseca law enforcement have also seen a sudden rise in the same type of thefts.

Area law enforcement recommends you park their vehicles in garages or use motion lights around your homes, and to report suspicious behavior and activities immediately. Vehicle owners can also speak to their mechanic about special fittings, welding, or markings to protect the expensive part.
