An Apple Valley man, Craig Michael Van Dam, 40, was found guilty of First Degree Driving While Impaired by a Renville County Jury on Thursday, Aug. 18.

According to the complaint, on July 22, 2021, a Renville County deputy stopped Van Dam’s vehicle near the Sheriff’s Office in Olivia after the vehicle was traveling 120 mils per hour on Highway 212. The deputy observed signs of impairment in Van Dam. A urinalysis showed Van Dam was positive for THC, amphetamine, and several prescription pain killers.

This is Van Dam’s third felony DWI conviction, and his sixth DWI conviction in the State of Minnesota. Van Dam also has another felony DWI pending in Dakota County.

Van Dam will be sentenced on October 11, at 2 p.m. at the Renville County Courthouse, Olivia.
