After taking a year off, the Lower Sioux Indian Community held its 43rd annual wacipi this past weekend. Attendence was down a bit from previous years because of uncertainty about COVID concerns.

Jane Steffen, pow-wow committee, spoke to KLGR about it. We spoke with her in the announcer’s booth while Saturday afternoon’s Grand Entry was going on, so that’s what you’re hearing in the background:

Master of Ceremonies Everett “Butch” Felix, Sr., from Sisseton, South Dakota, explained why the veterans always lead the dancers into the Grand Entry:
