The Senate Agriculture Committee announced a hearing next week on climate solutions and a business meeting on grain standards.

Committee leaders, Senate Republican Pat Roberts, and Senate Democrat Debbie Stabenow made the announcement this week.

The Committee will hold a legislative hearing on The Growing Climate Solutions Act of 2020, and hold a business meeting to consider the U.S. Grain Standards Reauthorization Act of 2020.

The hearing, planned for Wednesday, June 24, will feature testimony from Indiana farmer Brent Bible, American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duval, National Farmers Union President Rob Larew, and Jason Weller of Land O’Lakes.

The Growing Climate Solutions Act creates a certification program at the Department of Agriculture to help solve technical entry barriers that make it difficult for farmers to participate in carbon credit markets.

The Grain Standards Act authorizes the Federal Grain Inspection Service of USDA to establish official marketing standards for certain grains and oilseeds.
