Cool and damp conditions in Minnesota prevented fieldwork over much of the state, with 0 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending April 3, 2022, according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. 

There were scattered reports of manure and fertilizer application on dry land. 

Topsoil moisture supplies were rated 4% very short, 11% short, 66% adequate, and 19% surplus. 

Subsoil moisture supplies were rated 6% very short, 20% short, 69% adequate, and 5% surplus. 

Many reports mentioned frozen ground and snow cover. No issues were reported with calving and livestock. 

Farmers are working on getting field equipment ready for the upcoming planting season.
