Grain Prices Up, Hay Lower

The average price received by farmers for corn during September 2022 in Minnesota was $7.13 per bushel according to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service – Agricultural Prices report. This was 4 cents above the August price and $1.48 above September 2021. 

The September 2022 average price received by farmers for soybeans, at $13.90 per bushel, was 50 cents below the August price but $1.80 above the September 2021 price. 

The September average spring wheat price per bushel, at $9.01, was 43 cents above August and 77 cents above September 2021. 

All hay prices in Minnesota averaged $149.00 per ton in September. This was $9.00 below the August price and $16.00 below the September 2021 price. The September 2022 alfalfa hay price, at $170.00, was $10.00 below the previous month and $15.00 below September 2021. The average price received for other hay during September was $117.00 per ton. This was $19.00 below the August price but unchanged from September last year. 

The average price for milk was $23.40 per cwt, $1.20 above the August price and $4.80 above September 2021. Prices received for milk cows for dairy herd replacement averaged $1,630 per head as of October 1, 2022.
