WOMEN FARMERS AND LANDOWNERS EVENT

December 5, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 1:30 pm

WOMEN FARMERS AND LANDOWNERS EVENT CO-HOSTED BY THE REDWOOD SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT

November 27, 2023 (Bloomington, MN) – The Redwood Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD), in partnership with the Izaak Walton League’s Upper Mississippi River Initiative (UMRI), is hosting a free Women in Agriculture Q&A event.
The Women in Agriculture Q&A session will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 from 11 am to 1:30 pm at the U of M Research Station in Lamberton, MN. Experts from the Natural Resources Conservation Service, Farm Service Agency, Renville SWCD and Redwood SWCD will be available to answer questions about production, landowning, and land management. These experts will also provide information on Federal, State and local resources available to landowners/operators implementing conservation practices into their operation. The session will conclude with a rainfall simulation demonstration. The event is geared towards female producers and landowners, but all are welcome to attend. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
UMRI is committed to bridging the perceived gap between producers and environmentalists through community building events & honest discussion. One of the largest groups often left out of the discussion are female farmers and landowners. This event is designed to give women the space to ask questions related to their operation of land management, and get immediate feedback from experts across the agricultural spectrum. It is also designed to provide attendees with more information on conservation practices and resources to support the implementation of these practices. Finally, the event aims to strengthen the community of women farmers and landowners in Redwood County, and foster a supportive network of producers and landowners that can share advice and resources as we all work towards a healthier environment that is also good for the bottom line.

There is no cost to attend this event, but registration is requested by visiting redwoodswcd.org. To learn more or answer any questions, contact Tom Crawford, Drainage Project Data Manager Izaak Walton League/UMRI at (763) 656-9179.
