COVID-19 News: Redwood Area Community Center closes for most activities during four-week shutdown

Governor Walz’s Executive Order implementing a four-week dial back period to slow the spread of COVID-19 will be affecting the Redwood Area Community Center (RACC) and its programming.
According to Ross Nachreiner, Director of Parks and Recreation, the RACC will close its doors at 10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20. The 24/7 doors will be put on lock down so no member admission will be allowed after that time. RACC staff is hoping to reopen the facility on Sat., Dec. 19, after the claimed four-week dial-back period.
During the closure, the RACC will be staffed from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. The RACC is still allowed to host business meetings, and staff is still available for contact by phone or email. Meals on Wheels distribution will remain at the RACC. The Senior Center will remain closed until further notice.
Current regulations will also cause youth and adult recreational activities as well as fitness classes to be put on hold. If a recreational activity is canceled due to COVID, a full refund will be issued.
GROUP FITNESS: All of Sam Scheffler’s group fitness classes will be hosted virtually on the RACC’s Facebook page. Yoga classes are canceled until further notice.  To access virtual workouts, ask to be added to the “Winter Workouts at Home” group on RACC’s Facebook page.
ADULT RECREATION: All Adult Leagues will suspend play from Nov. 21-December 18. The hope is that regularly scheduled play after that period will be allowed, and the weeks missed will be rescheduled for the end of the season.
Elite Gymnastics: Registration will remain open until Wednesday, Dec. 9. After that, RACC staff will assess the numbers, look at current/upcoming restrictions, and inform those who have signed up if the program is still able to be held.
Cardinal Cagers: Registration remains open and still plan for a January start.
Youth Wrestling: Practice start date will be delayed until further notice. Staff will be in communication with those signed up about new dates and schedules. Registration will remain open.
RAHA & RABA: All RAHA and RABA operations will come to halt during the executive order. This also includes open skate in the ice arena as well as the use of the fieldhouse.
RAMSEY PARK: The park remains open.
