Scheduled fiber maintenance to be performed on Thursday, Sept. 12, between 12:01 a.m. and 3 a.m. will affect 911 telephone landline communications in the Brown County area.
The communications provider will be working on a fiber cable near Russell, Minnesota, and moving it to make room for bridge work to be performed on State Highway 91. This work will take between 10 minutes to up to three hours to complete.
The Brown County Dispatch Center will remain connected to the Minnesota ESINet and could receive emergency calls from other carriers (CLEC, wireless and VoIP).
Even though the work area is near Russell, the Brown County area will be affected to include Comfrey, Hanska, New Ulm, Sleepy Eye, and Springfield.
If you are in an area that is affected by the scheduled fiber maintenance affecting 911 calls, you can still reach the Brown County Dispatch Center by calling 507-233-6700.
