A Frost teenager has been sentenced for his part in an assault on a football teammate at a house party in Winnebago.
Wyatt Tungland, 19, was convicted of felony third-degree assault in Faribault County Court Tuesday. Two other charges were dropped as part of an Alford plea reached in April. The charge will be reduced to a misdemeanor if he successfully completes his sentence.
Tungland was sentenced four days in jail in addition to the nine days served after the assault. He must complete 40 hours of probation and an anger management program. He’ll also be placed on supervised probation for five years and must $1,000 in fines.
Tungland and three other teens were charged in November 2017 after allegedly beating their Blue Earth Area High School Football teammate unconscious at a house party. The victim suffered a concussion and swelling and bruising on his face.
Two others have been charged and convicted in connection with the assault: Nineteen-year-old Dalton Nagel of Frost and Blake Barnett, 17, of Blue Earth.
A fourth suspect was a juvenile at the time of the beating and his case is not public.
