A court appearance for a Fairfax man accused of trying to kill a man in a Fairfax convenience store last month has been rescheduled for next week.
60-year-old Michael Klatt is charged with 1st Degree Attempted Pre-meditated Murder, 1st Degree and 2nd Degree Assault for coming into the Smart Mart January 11th and shooting employee Kenneth Eckstein of Hector. He reportedly blamed Eckstein for encouraging Klatt’s wife, who also works at the store, to leave him. Eckstein suffered wounds to his face and hand.
Klatt was to have appeared for a settlement conference and omnibus hearing in Renville County District Court today, but it has been rescheduled for February 21st. Klatt is being held on 500,000 dollars unconditional and 200,000 dollars conditional bail.
