Leona C. Braun, 99, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on Monday, May 23, 2011 at Sleepy Eye Care Center. Visitation will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Friday from 1 to 2 PM. Service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, MN on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 2:00 PM The Clergy will be Fr. Andy Michels Interment St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, MN. Leona C. Braun was born on December 17, 1911 in Wabasso, MN, the daughter of Clement & Augusta (Engle) Pelzel. She married Ambrose J. Braun on May 6, 1931 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. The couple farmed in the Sleepy Eye area, moved to Walnut Grove and then later returned to Sleepy Eye. Ambrose preceded her in death in 1972. Leona married Eldon Lowinske in April of 1986. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, NCSF and the CCW. Leona enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, pressing flowers, making cards and traveling.

She is survived by her children, Marjorie Ahlrich of Sleepy Eye, Gerald
(Edith) Braun of Eagan, Barbara Lyon of New Jersey, 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, brothers, Ben (Marjo) Pelzel of Maine, Melvin Pelzel of Sleepy Eye and sister, Lorraine (Melvin) Tauer of Morgan. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Ambrose and Eldon, son, Donald, sons-in-law, Marvin Lyon and Norman Ahlrich and siblings, Roman, Edward, Arthur, Erwin, Leo, Irene, Lucille and Marian.
