Motorists traveling on Highway 29 north of Benson will encounter an emergency road closure due to a tanker roll-over that was carrying anhydrous ammonia this morning about 6:45 AM. (Thursday).
Local law enforcement and fire department have been handling local traffic in the area of the rollover. Crews from the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) District 4 have just been called to the scene for additional assistance.
The Swift County Sheriff’s Office reports a pick up pulling two1,000 gallon anhydrous tanks lost control on a patch of ice on a bridge and rolled into the ditch. Most of the product has been released and there is no risk to the public at this time.
Motorists are asked to take alternate routes and avoid the area. The roadway will be closed to traffic until further notice.
