WVU and Big East settle differences

the settlement totals $20 million but doesn't know how much money
will come from the university and how much the Big 12 may
contribute.

the schedule is out and the Mountaineers will play their first Big

"might be open to a discussion" about allowing Syracuse and
Pittsburgh to join the Atlantic Coast Conference for the 2013
football season. Marinatto had previously said that the Big East

Tony Gywnn has surgery for tumor...O's, Jones agree
SAN DIEGO (AP) - Hall of Fame outfielder Tony Gwynn had surgery
Tuesday to remove a new cancerous tumor inside his right cheek.
Gwynn, now San Diego State's baseball coach, previously had a
malignant growth removed from the same spot in August 2010.
Gwynn's wife, Alicia, told ESPN that doctors do not believe the
cancer has spread outside of Gwynn's salivary gland. But she said
she expected to know more after the operation at the Moores Cancer
Center at the University of California San Diego.
Gwynn had blamed the original growth on his use of smokeless
tobacco.
San Diego State said, if the cancer "is found to be
localized," Gwynn should be able to return to coach the Aztecs
soon.

     - The Kansas City Royals are exercising their 2013 option on

Maddon has agreed to a three-year contract extension with the Tampa

this season at Indianapolis, Texas and Fontana.

Barfield, who says he made the decision for two reasons: the

drivers' concerns.
The move comes 11 months after series CEO Randy Bernard said he
