MN Sports Headlines for Thursday, Feb. 9th:

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Rudy Gay scored 19 points as the Memphis

Grizzlies halted a three-game skid by beating the Minnesota

Timberwolves 85-80 last night. Quincy Pondexter added a career-high

17 points for the Grizzlies. J.J. Barea led the Timberwolves with

17 points and six assists.

 

NEW YORK (AP) - Timberwolves rookies Ricky Rubio and Derrick

Williams have made the list of 18 players chosen for the Rising

Stars Challenge to be held during All-Star weekend. Los Angeles

Clippers star Blake Griffin and Cleveland rookie Kyrie Irving

headline the roster. Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal will

serve as general managers and draft players for their teams.

 

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota is gearing up for a daunting

stretch of games as the Gophers make a push for the postseason.

Minnesota hosts No. 21 Wisconsin tonight, followed by No. 3 Ohio

State coming to town next Tuesday. The Gophers are squarely on the

NCAA tournament bubble with a 5-6 Big Ten record.

 

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The mother of a paralyzed Minnesota

girl's hockey player says doctors expect a full recovery. Jenna

Privette remains paralyzed from the waist down following last

month's on-ice accident. Her mother, Penny, tells the St. Paul

Pioneer Press doctors "are anticipating a full recovery."
